Montana requires all investor-owned utilities to offer net metering. With net metering, you get a full retail rate credit for the amount of power that you don’t use and send back into the power grid. The surplus energy is applied as a credit to your next monthly bill. During peak months you can generate power to be used during non-peak months. If your solar system consistently provides more power to the grid than is needed, we believe that you should be entitled to compensation. Also, you can consider Montana Solar Rebates, State Tax Credits, and Property Tax Exemptions, and the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit.

You can own your solar system and pay over time. There has never been a better time to go solar. With interest rates at an all time low, and Tax Credits and other incentives available you can take advantage of the long term savings of a solar system for your home at 2932 Stillwater Dr
Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) -$8,133. Montana state incentives up to -$1,000, and interest rates at 1.9% up to $100,000.
Based on your  $125 average energy use now and a 2.2% annual increase in energy prices over the next 20 years you'll expect to pay $37,300 in energy costs.

Going solar (with the ITC tax credit of $8,633) would run you a total investment of $25,992.  Your 20 year savings are $11,308.
The next step is to design a solar system specifically for your home. No two homes are alike in their potential solar production. Some homeowners will choose to under produce their solar output lightening the load on their local energy provider and lowering their monthly bill. Others prefer to over produce during peak months generating power they can use during non-peak months.
